Banjarnegara – Heavy rain that fell on Pejawaran Village resulted in the Pejawaran-Batur Banjarnegara homecoming route being cut off due to landslides. A number of volunteers were involved in helping motorists cross the damaged road on Tuesday (9/4/2024). Residents who use two-wheeled vehicles still use this route because the access is still passable even though it is quite steep. However, some residents choose to take an alternative route.
The incident started on Monday (4/3/2024) at 02.00 in the morning, when the road surface was repeatedly hit by high intensity rain, causing the river water discharge under the bridge to increase. Along with the high level of rain intensity which lasted several days in March, landslides occurred on the main Pejawaran-Batur route. The impact is felt by the residents of Kaliireng Hamlet, Pejawaran District, in carrying out their daily livelihood activities which require access via this road. “We have implemented an appeal to the public to be careful when crossing the landslide route,” said Aipda Rodik Waluyo from the Pejawaran Police.
Efforts by local authorities have been mobilized to reduce the risk of landslides. The Transportation Department has diverted the Pejawaran-Batur vehicle route to Wanayasa-Batur and Pagentan Batur with route diversion signs at several vital points on the main route. The Pejawaran Police and Koramil took part in appealing to local residents near the landslide route. BPBD Banjarnegara Regency and CV. Bangkit Makmur Abadi deployed heavy equipment to repair the source of the landslide by relocating the river route. “From Wednesday (1/5/2024) to Monday (6/5/2024) the work process was 60% complete with 12 personnel, 2 excavators, and 2 trucks deployed,” said Herman, a supervisor from CV. Bangkit Makmur Abadi, regarding the work on the Kaliireng River Route Relocation Project.
As the Eid holidays approach, the community eagerly awaits the completion of the repair work. Local residents and travelers have expressed concerns about the delay in repairs and the potential impact on their holiday plans. The authorities have assured that efforts are being expedited to ensure the route is safe and operational as soon as possible. However, the full restoration of the road may take some time, considering the extent of the damage and the ongoing weather conditions.
In the meantime, residents are advised to use alternative routes and remain vigilant when traveling through the affected areas. The local government continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on the progress of the repairs. Community members have praised the efforts of the volunteers and local authorities, expressing gratitude for their swift response and dedication to ensuring safety and accessibility in the region.
